The slight bubbling on the walls above the tiled wall did not hint at the major problem behind the sheetrock. Upon inspection, the tiles were weakened, and there were mold stains in the bathtub area. To remediate the mold damage correctly, a controlled demolition was needed, as shown in the After Photo. We sealed off the bathroom and sprayed an antifungal chemical to prevent future dormant mold spores from developing into new mold damage. We even painted the backwall framing with an antimicrobial white primer.
