Close to Palmdale, the Alpine Butte Wildlife Sanctuary Showcases the Beauty of Antelope Valley
Palmdale, and all of Antelope Valley, is filled with open-air spaces ready to welcome all to enjoy some time outdoors. Whether you bike or hike, there is an option for you to explore on your own or with friends. In spring, Alpine Butte Wildlife Sanctuary surprises visitors with its wildflowers and rich animal life despite the desert environment. Before you visit Alpine Butte, keep in mind the following-
- To access the Sanctuary, park along Avenue O and walk about half a mile to enter
- There are no marked trails or facilities, so plan accordingly
- Operating from sunrise to sunset, admission is free to the public
- Be on the lookout for animal tracks along the sand, which may indicate the presence of snakes and wildlife
